About Our Company
The Mawlawi Cement for manufacturing was established in 2009 in the Kurdistan Region / Aghjeler area, located in north west of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, which is 35 km away from Sulaymaniyah city. On the right-hand side of the main road towards chamchamal area of Sulaymaniyah governorate on the 375000 Square meter area.
This plant was implemented by Ranko Power Grp, among a number of investment projects that established before.
The plant production lines consist with a total annual capacity of 3.2 million tons.
The plant produces various types of cement as mentioned below, and is capable of producing other types according to market demand:
Ordinary Portland cement
(OPC) type CEM I 42.5 R used in general construction.
Sulfate resistance cement
(SRC) for civil construction that needs high sulfate resistance (especially for foundations)..
High fine grain Potland cement
Type CEM I 42.5 R which is used in concrete blocks and precast blocks to produce high early strength.
Cements 
Cement is a building material which has a cohesive and adhesive properties in presence of water, these properties make cement able to connect mineral parts with each other and produced a solid mass.
Manufacture of Portland cement
Portland cement is essentially calcium silicate cement, which is produced by firing to
partial fusion, at a temperature of approximately 1500°C, a well-homogenized and finely
ground mixture of limestone or chalk (calcium carbonate) and an appropriate quantity of clay or
shale.
The process of manufacture of cement consists of grinding the raw materials, mixing
them intimately in certain proportions depending upon their purity and composition and burning
them in a kiln at a temperature of about 1300 to 1500°C, at which temperature, the material
sinters and partially fuses to form nodular shaped clinker. The clinker is cooled and ground to
fine powder with addition of about 3 to 5% of gypsum. The product formed by using this
procedure is Portland cement.
There are two processes known as “wet” and “dry” processes depending upon whether
the mixing and grinding of raw materials are done in wet or dry conditions.
